How did people live in the past? Those interested in seeing that question answered should pay a visit to Dahlbergsgården in Bastutjärn, a museum housed in an 1826 building which is set out in a way to make you feel the original occupants have just popped out for a while. All of the house’s artefacts in the house have been well preserved, many of them built and used on the premises.
At the heart of the building – the kitchen - is an 1879 pipe organ. It was the first organ to be built by Petter Alm when he was just 21 years-old and can still be played. Try it yourself and hear its beautiful sound. The museum also gives guided tours and, in the summer, a café serves light refreshments and fresh bread. Welcome to the past.
