What to see

Zoo and Christmas Zoo

Relish the opportunity to get up close and personal with bears, wolves, wolverines and much more when you visit Sweden's most northerly zoo which specialises in caring for creatures specifically from the region. It's always worth a trip to the zoo at any time of year, but in the winter, when it's covered with a blanket of sparkling white snow, it's a really great place for all the family to visit. That's when you get to see these wonderfully exotic northern animals at their arctic best - in their warm winter fur. Don't forget when you're visiting in the run-up to Christmas to pop in to see Santa Claus in his cottage - and leave your Christmas list.

Crafts

Gold of Lapland is home to many artists and craftspeople who use traditional skills to make sought-after items for sale which are sold in their workshops and stores. We have shoemakers, woodworkers, artists who work with textiles and much more. Our July craft fair is also a popular showcase for their work and draws visitors from miles around.

Discover nature

In the Gold of Lapland region, most of the landscape is undisturbed and the air is clean and fresh. In winter, it is covered in crisp white snow. Just imagine the stillness, the silence. As well as trying one of the many exciting activities on offer, there is plenty of space for you to discover your own little piece of nature.

Brown and white signposts

Are you on the hunt for an activity that is exciting, interesting or even unusual? Then you should look at the brown and white signposts beside the road. These indicate places of interest, special landmarks and areas that have been designated as tourist attractions. The world's longest ropeway has been designated such an area.
