The county of Västerbotten, and the Gold of Lapland region in particular, have many restaurants that can provide an exciting culinary experience with delicious recipes based on excellent local ingredients. It could be argued that at the top of the regional delicacy list is the “Emperor of cheeses” - our very own Västerbottensost, which is used in a multitude of recipes, or enjoyed on its own for its outstanding great taste.

Enjoying a meal based on Northern ingredients and prepared over an open fire is an experience not to be missed. The flavours are stronger and provide a real taste of the wilderness. Try the mining buffet, which includes slices of reindeer, trout and arctic char, pork, sausages etc. The food can be prepared over an open fire using a large flat pan called a muurikka. It is a feast for your palate and your eyes.

Usually calm and charming environments, our cafés serve delicious sandwiches, light refreshments, fresh coffee and cakes. Many cafés open during the summer and, in the winter, many restaurants run a café service.

Quick, tasty and value for money. A pizza with topped with tasty ingredients and melted cheese is something most people long for at some point in time. Many of the restaurants in the Gold of Lapland region serve pizza - and there are quite a few specialist pizza restaurants too.
