Sweden's most northerly zoo is situated in Lycksele. Specialising in the fauna of the Nordic countries, most of what can be found in the wilds of Scandinavia can be found here.
It isn't only children who love animals, adults do, too ,and you don't have to have youngsters with you to have fun at Lycksele Zoo - there is something for everyone.
The paddocks have been designed to resemble the animals’ natural habitat as much as possible. Wolves, lynx, muskox, bears, wolverines, wild boar....they are all here. There are also more common animals such as moose, roe deer, reindeer and red deer.
The popular section of the zoo aimed at younger children contains smaller animals, which they are allowed to pet, and there is the large adventure playground featuring rides, water games and much more. During winter, the zoo transforms into Julparken, a celebration of winter and Christmas complete with a special Christmas cinema, sleigh riding and, of course, a chance to meet Santa Claus. The zoo has conference facilities for groups of up to 40 people and regularly caters for staff meetings and marketing events.
Are you on the hunt for an activity that is exciting, interesting or even unusual? Then look for the brown and white signposts beside the road. These indicate places of interest, special landmarks and areas that have been designated as tourist attractions, of which Lycksele Djurpark is one.
