Right in the heart of one of the largest copper smelters in the world, the Forum Museum is where the modern industry meets is rich past. Learn about its 80-year-old history, from the first finds of gold at Fågelmyran to today's smelter.
The actual location of the Forum Museum at Rönnskär is exciting in itself. It is right in the centre of the giant smelter complex and admission is by arrangement only. Once inside, you pass through the huge industrial area on your way to the old, green wooden house in which the museum is housed. Ivar Kreuger, the investor and majority share holder of the 1930s, played a major role in the development of the Boliden mining concern and his desk has been preserved along with letters and photos. It is also possible to watch a film about his life. The museum contains a model of an early smelter, an exhibition about gold, a set of Olympic medals and much more. If you are lucky, you might even see and handle a new bar of gold. It is possible to eat lunch at the Tre Kupor restaurant, also situated within the industrial complex.
